Week 19 pool fixtures and draw chances

DrawMeter editorial team · Updated

DrawMeter puts one number on every match of the weekly UK football pools coupon: the chance that it ends in a draw. The table below is the next coupon to be played. Each of its 49 numbered matches carries a home win, draw and away win chance, from our statistical model wherever it covers the match, a draw rank, and the eight matches the model rates likeliest to finish level are marked in bold. It is built for pools players in Nigeria and Ghana who want a reasoned number behind each mark on the coupon instead of a rumour.

“From the odds” marks a match with a club our model does not rate yet: its probabilities are Megapari's own prices with the margin removed, not a model forecast.

How to read the coupon table

  • The number on the left is the match's place on the coupon, the same 1 to 49 you mark on your own coupon. Under the teams you see the kick-off time and the competition.
  • 1, X and 2 are the chances of a home win, a draw and an away win. The three add up to 100%.
  • Draw rank orders the matches by their draw chance: rank 1 is the coupon's likeliest draw. Only matches with a price get a rank.
  • Bold marks our eight likeliest draws, simply the eight highest draw chances on the coupon.
  • "From the odds" under a match means it falls outside the competitions the model rates, such as an FA Cup tie or an international between national teams. Those chances are the bookmaker's own prices with the margin removed.
  • A dash means we have no price for the match yet.

Kick-off times are printed in West Africa Time and switch to your phone's own clock when the page loads. Ghana is one hour behind Lagos, so a match listed at 16:00 WAT starts at 15:00 in Accra.

What a pool code really is

Every week, lists of coupon numbers circulate as the week's "pool code". There is nothing hidden behind them: a code is a set of numbers someone expects to draw. Ours is the eight bold numbers, chosen by the model alone, published before the first kick-off and never changed afterwards. Because they are set down in public, anyone can check them against the results, which is exactly what the record below does.

Why the best eight still miss

Even the likeliest draw on a coupon is rarely rated much above one chance in three. Suppose all eight bold matches sat at 30%: the model would then expect two or three of them to end level, not eight. Getting all eight right in one week would be roughly a one in 15,000 shot. A good week for the model is one where its eight beat the rest of the coupon, not one where every mark lands. Treat the table as a ranking of chances, never as a promise, and keep any stake to money you can afford to lose. Pools and betting are for adults 18+ only.

How our eight likeliest draws did

The record starts once the first coupon we priced has been played.

Reading the record

Each row is a coupon that has kicked off. "Draws on the coupon" counts every match on the 49 that ended level, Pools Panel verdicts included; the last column counts how many of our eight were among them. One week says very little, because draws come in uneven bunches. Look at many weeks together, and compare our eight with the coupon as a whole. The full method of logging and counting is on the track record page, and each week's scores as they come in are on pool results.

Where the numbers come from

The model gives every team an attack and a defence rating, fitted on about three seasons of scores with recent matches counting more. From those it works out the chance of every possible scoreline, and the draw chance is the sum of the level ones. Where the bookmaker prices the match, the model's chance is blended half and half with that price. It sees scores only: no line-ups, injuries or team news. How we predict draws explains each step.

Frequently asked questions

Which week's pool fixtures are on this page?

The next UK coupon still to be played, with its week number in the headline. As soon as the first match of that week kicks off, the page moves on to the following week, and the week in play carries on under pool results with its scores.

What is the pool code for this week?

A pool code is only a list of coupon numbers someone expects to end level. Ours is the eight numbers printed in bold in the table, the matches our model rates likeliest to draw. They are the most probable draws on the coupon, not certain ones, and most weeks several of them will miss.

How reliable is this pool draw prediction?

Each draw chance is meant to come true about as often as it says over many matches, so a 30% draw should end level roughly three times in ten. That also means it fails seven times in ten. No draw is ever sure, and our record of past weeks is published so you can judge for yourself.

Why do some coupon matches have no draw chance?

A dash means neither our model nor the bookmaker's prices cover that match yet, which happens with some lower-division or non-league sides. Matches marked "from the odds" fall outside the competitions the model rates, such as cup ties and internationals, so their chances come from the bookmaker's prices with the margin taken out.

When does the pool forecast change?

The site refreshes four times a day, at about 03:00, 10:00, 15:00 and 21:40 WAT. Chances can move between refreshes as new results and prices arrive, until the first match of the week kicks off. From that moment our eight likeliest draws are frozen.
